Matthias Oesterle
Matthias Oesterle es un fotógrafo alemán afincado entre Barcelona y Menorca.
Comenzó a trabajar en fotografía documental en 2011 mientras cubría las protestas del movimiento 15-M en Barcelona. Desde entonces, su trabajo ha evolucionado hacia la documentación a largo plazo de la vida social y cultural en distintas regiones de España.
Antes de dedicarse plenamente a la fotografía, trabajó durante casi dos décadas en el ámbito de la comunicación visual, primero como diseñador On-Air para la mayor cadena privada de noticias de televisión en Alemania y posteriormente como director de arte en una destacada agencia de publicidad española. Esta trayectoria sigue influyendo en su enfoque estructurado de la composición y el color.
Trabajando principalmente con focales cortas, busca la proximidad y la inmersión, con el objetivo de documentar los acontecimientos desde dentro y no desde la distancia.
En los últimos años su trabajo se ha centrado cada vez más en las tradiciones, los rituales y las fiestas populares — especialmente los correfocs, las actuaciones castelleras y diversas celebraciones regionales en toda España. Su interés se centra en cómo estas prácticas colectivas expresan identidad, continuidad y vida comunitaria en la sociedad contemporánea.
Sus fotografías han sido publicadas internacionalmente en medios como The Guardian, National Geographic, Le Monde, EL País, The Wall Street Journal, entre otros.
Actualmente continúa desarrollando proyectos fotográficos a largo plazo dedicados a documentar tradiciones culturales y rituales públicos en distintas regiones de España.
